Domain

A domain is the name and address of a website on the Internet. It is what people type in the browser to find you, for example: bcnpcsolutions.com.

Think of the domain as your “name on the Internet”: instead of having to memorize strange numbers, you use an easy-to-remember word. When someone types your domain, the Internet system understands where it should take them and opens your website.

What is a domain useful for?

• So that you can be found easily: it is your public address so that clients and acquaintances can access your website.

• So that it sounds professional: a custom domain gives more confidence than just using social media or long links.

• For emails with your name: you can use emails like info@yourdomain.com, support@yourdomain.com, etc.

• To control your brand: the domain is “your name”; if you have it, no one else can use the same one.

• To share it anywhere: business cards, ads, WhatsApp, Google, social networks… it is a short and clear link.

What parts does a domain have?

• The name: bcnpcsolutions

• The ending: .com, .es, .net (this is called the extension)

The extension does not change “the website” by itself, but it can influence how it is perceived:
.com is the most universal, .es is usually associated with Spain, etc.

Important

The domain is usually paid annually (or for several years) and as long as it is in your name, no one else can register it. If you let it expire, someone else could buy it.
